DC went for balance and tactics.

But even amongst their own sets, they aren't necessarily balanced.  You have 4 8 stat characters, 3 of which are villains.  Villain decks, planned and laid out properly, should almost always come out on top.  Especially since, according to a lot of what I've gleaned from these forums, that Lex Luthor is one of the best 8I characters, giving him a partner in Brainiac could easily give that team a major advantage over any team containing Azreal and almost any other 7F from the same set.

Now, most, if not all the examples given seem to follow this line of logic, but I would like to point out one example of where I think there is a difference.  Morbius.  He is a capable scientist but that doesn't really come into play in how he fights.  He uses his Vampire enhanced speed and strength to overcome his adversaries.

Not everything should be interpreted as a physical fight. DC has basic universe cards like "Sabotage", "Bluff", "Clever Scape", "Ambush" and "Diversion".

One of the game's objectives is to complete a Mission, while Missions represent story arcs. So a intellect action could be interpretated as something non-physical, which also helps the team to achieve Mission's goals.

Like the examples I gave for Morbius, he used his intellect to rebuild Punisher's body or achieve the cure for viruses. So he pretty much helps the team and should score venture points with his intellect skills!

In that regard, looking at Peter Parker, he's smart but not the smartest fighter.  Yes, he invented some nice stuff to help him, but more or less stopped there.  If you compare him to Scarlet Spider, Scarlet Spider never stopped trying to improve his gadgets and often won against stronger opponents through cleverness and reason.  I'm not saying Spider-man hasn't done these things, but Scarlet Spider has done it better.  My point in comparing these two is because they are genetic duplicates so theoretically possess the same intelligence while one applies it to battle better.

Once again, its not just a matter of inventing gadgets. Its true that Spider-Man and the Scarlet-Spider had different ideas, but it doesn't mean that one is smarter than other. Peter Parker keeps creating new suits like the bullet proof "Spider-Armors".

Peter also was able to out-think many foes and win fights by beeing a clever fighter.

I would definitely agree with that with most DC games. When I played HeroClix - DC character were NEVER as powerful as marvel characters, but if you did the tactical moves that they made possible you always had a good fight.
Beta Ray Bill makes a WHOLE lot more sense at Avengers Mansion than Beyonder showing up and helping out during a fight. - breadmaster
