Hello, there! New to the site, but I've been playing OP since it came out, and I refuse to give up. I've had a recent resurgence of interest, for some reason, so I went looking for folks and found this site. Hope to be a regular soon!

Looking around the site and seeing all the references to the codes on the specials and advanced strategy, I realize that you guys are playing on a WHOLE different level than I am! I think I need to step up my game...

Welcome to the forums! Always great to see more OP players join us.  :)
At first I was also quite amazed and frankly intimidated by all the strategy and rules I hadn't heard of before that I read in these forums. You quickly learn though and everyone here is eager to help and answer questions.

yeah, it can be intimidating for a player who played in an isolated circle back in the day (ie: me).  you quickly realize that you had so many little things wrong (and some big ones too)

they all tend to come up pretty quick though, so if you can withstand the initial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McAeQiLmEYU, the game really opens up

several of us have that same story, as a matter of fact (me too :)). so, we all went through a pretty steep learning curve. Even then, a lot of us are still pretty novice compared to a select few, true veterans around here  ;)

welcome, btw!

Thanks, guys! I feel I know how to play very well, it's just the level of having all the two-letter codes memorized that's a bit intense. Also, I only have cards from the first few sets. There were many games out at that time, and I played many of them, that our store couldn't really keep up. I bought a lot of the original set, and a starter box of DC (where I got, I think 9 Penguins!), and a booster box of Monumental. I only have a total of two locations. I never even knew they came out with Galactus and Beyonder.
