Don't forget we're still hoping to do a tournament in mid May.

And we'll announce our annual Toronto Tournament soon.

3 Days Until the K2 Challenge

Fun Fact:

Thanks to Jack Truong the live streaming site for the K2 Challenge can be found at the following address.

http://overpower.ca/live.php

We will try and keep the streaming going all day Saturday in one way or another. We will likely be freestyling all kinds of things on site to make this happen. This event should be fun even if you are not able to attend. We will be testing the system Friday night, so you may be able to catch some then as well, if we get it working quickly.

2 Days Until the K2 Challenge

Fun Fact:

When the batman holo series was released there was a small number of factory sealed sets created just for the in house employees. This even included all the alternate printings (think full set of blue lettering) as well as the other 1:72 insert. It also included the holo heroes. Just one card was left out. Now I'm not sure why, but they were left like many of you without the very rare Catwoman Whiplash.

1 Day Until the K2 Challenge!

Fun Fact:

At the first OP Cup I won an uncut sheet of classic with 5 of each insert on it. I did not win the OP Cup, but this was a special prize for the person with the most victories total between the main event and all side events. I believe this was the only classic rare / very rare sheet ever given out as a tournament prize. In the end it was looking close, but thanks to the last tournament, I ended up with 2 more victories than the next closest contender. I did not sleep much that weekend, and had to build many weird format decks on the fly. Good Times!

As I was an exceptionally poor college student at the time, I reached out to my old buddy Keith Bursack to find out if he knew a way that I could get the sheet professionally cut. It just so happened that Keith had a sheet of his own! After doing a little research and asking for a favor or two, Keith was able to get the sheets cut at the factory. They were cut just as they would have been during the original printing. Keep in mind, this wasn't all that long afterwards.

The final step was for Keith to sell the cards on ebay. Which he did. I was then returned the cards from the sheet that didn't sell as well as some cash for my share. I still have those cards. I am very grateful to Keith for doing this, as I was able to survive through the cold winters in central PA much more comfortably.

As of today, I am yet to hear from anyone that purchased inserts during this big ebay sale in the late 90's. I would love any information people may have on the subject.

I hope you have all enjoyed these little tidbits of OP History.

See you guys tomorrow!

Jack

Don't forget to catch the live stream of our matches if you can't make it to the tournament!
